Water System Technician I.
The Perquimans County Water System is accepting applications until the position is filled, for the Full Time position of Water System Technician I. An employee in this class performs operational, construction and maintenance duties designed to operate water production and distribution systems. Work includes monitoring daily operations of systems; starting and stopping pumps and plants; operation of heavy equipment; maintenance and repair of water lines; maintenance and repair of pumps; well operation and maintenance; installation of new lines, meters and hydrants; meter reading; and related activities. Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and hearing. Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Graduation from high school and some experience in the operation and maintenance of a well water production and/or distribution system; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Employee must possess or be able to obtain a grade C distribution system certification within twelve months; additional certifications may be required. Supervision of a staff of Social Workers who provide direct services to clients in the areas of Child Welfare, Adult Services, and Day Care. Work supervised is predominately at the level of Social Worker I A& T, Social Worker III and Social Worker II and requires providing considerable guidance to staff in case consultation. Employee assigns cases to subordinates, coordinates work flow operations, and supervises staff through case review and consultation. Work in this class involves providing intensive social work services in serious and complicated cases which require the flexible use of a wide range of social work skills and intervention techniques. Services are provided in a variety of settings including local human services agencies, public health departments, correctional facilities, teaching hospitals, medical schools, juvenile training centers, and state institutions. Work will be in Child Protective Services and will involve investigation of alleged neglect or abuse and/or dependency; providing in-depth assessment of family dynamics and needs, assessment, intervention and treatment of patients and or families with acute to severe medical and/or emotional disorders and mental illnesses; serving as expert witness at court hearings; or advanced social work intervention, instruction, and research in a teaching hospital.
